In 2005, when Diamond Creek’s Adam Bowden bought his first group of broodmares, the one he wanted most, and bought, went by the name of Western Montana. He thought that if he was patient, there was a good chance her line would one day produce a sire for him. Confederate is the first foal of Western Montana’s daughter Geothermal, and perhaps Bowden’s patience is going to pay off. By Keith McCalmont.
