Garrett Rooney fell for the Standardbred game at age 12, and soon became a fixture at the Henry family farm in Arthur, Ontario. As a groom, trainer, and eventually a driver, Garrett carved out a living doing it all, happy to be involved in the game he loves. The past three years however, after driving for well over a decade in relative anonymity, Garrett has really hit his stride, and in 2024 he captured driving titles at four different Ontario tracks. 40 isn’t that old for a catch driver, and at this point the sky’s the limit for the driver who just “drove at the small tracks on the weekend because that’s what guys did.” By John Rallis.
