Paige Austin grew up around her dad’s Standardbreds, and there was nowhere else she wanted to be. Working summers for him on the family farm in Fergus, Ontario, the pair even travelled to New York together a number of times in 2013, and won a NYSS Championship with the star of their barn - Fool Me Once. But Mark Austin passed away suddenly in 2014, and Paige had to rely on both her immediate and horse racing families to help her through. Now 25-years-old, engaged to be married, and a full-time nurse, Paige also does multiple catch-paddocks weekly, and recently became the second youngest female trainer in history to win an OSS Gold event. We’re thinking her dad would be proud. By John Rallis.
