Standardbred horseman Roland ‘Roly’ Alfred Day, 65, of Franklin, N.H., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

He was born in Exeter, N.H., on Oct. 25, 1953, to parents Lillian Crawford Day and Alfred ‘Bucky’ Theodore Day.

He grew up in Danville, N.H., where as a child, he enjoyed playing baseball, spending time with family, helping his father take care of racehorses, and, as the only boy, teasing his sisters. He was his mother’s favourite, and he knew it.

Training and caring for harness horses up and down the eastern seaboard was his profession until retirement. An outgoing and social man with a bright Irish smile made Roly a friend to many along his travels.

He is survived by his daughters, Robin Ann and Renee Alysha; grandchildren, Alysha, Tommy, Tyler, Hunter, Gionna, Makayla, Andrew, and Neveah; and sisters, Barbara, Judith, Joy, Jane, and Pamela; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all who loved him. Services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin VNA & Hospice, 75 Chestnut St., Franklin, NH 03235.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Roly Day.
