Quebec horseman Gaston Landry passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Arthabaska Hotel-Dieu Hospital at the age of 88. Mr. Gaston Landry, spouse of the late Thérèse Béland Dusseault, was formerly a resident of Saint-Valère, Que.
Landry was well known in the harness racing industry, in particular for a horse he bred, Monsieur Mariner, a career winner of 36 races and more than $100,000 in purses.
He is survived by his sweetheart Mrs. Jeannine Gagné; the children of the late Thérèse Béland Dusseault: Jacques Dusseault (Louise Brissette, first married husband of the late Ginette Hébert), René Dusseault (Lucie Jacques), Denis Dusseault (Suzie Fortier); her grandchildren: Cathy, Isabelle, Karine, Mylène, Kaven, Jennilee and her great grandchildren; his sisters and brother: Denise (late Clément Vézina), Lisette (late Pierre Béliveau), Roland (Suzanne Berger). Brother of the late Rolande (late Adrien Picher) and late Bruno (late Monique Gagné). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, Sept. 30 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., as well as Friday, Oct. 1, the day of the ceremony, from noon, at the Grégoire & Desrochers funeral complex, 1300, rue Notre-Dame Est in Victoriaville, Que. A ceremony in his memory will be held on Friday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. in the Marcoux & Dion Chapel of the funeral complex.
