Robert Fasken Passes

Trot Insider has learned that Robert ‘Bob’ Fasken, 93, the chair of the board of Rideau Carleton Raceway who was once part owner of O’Brien Award winners Peach Pit and Elusive Desire, passed away surrounded by his family during the morning hours of Friday, September 13.

Highly respected in the mining and real estate community and closely loved by a wide group of friends, Bob and Betty (his wife of 52 years who passed in 1995) enjoyed life to the fullest. Bob loved to fish, hunt, play cards, standardbred owner and enjoyed the company of his family, friends and business associates. Full of optimism and the desire to enjoy life, Bob and Betty travelled the world for business and adventure.

Bob is survived by his six children (Joanne, Penny, Bob, Andy, Mitchell and Wendy), their children, grandchildren and close friend Ella O’Marra.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, on Monday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Bob’s life will held on Tuesday, September 17 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation
beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment Springcreek Cemetery in Clarkson, Mississauga.

The family would appreciate if you could bring a copy of a special picture of your memories of Bob for the celebration of his life. If desired, remembrances to the Oakville Hospital Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice in Bob’s honour would be greatly appreciated.
