John H. Davies Passes

Longtime horseman John Davies of Woodstock, N.B. passed away on August 21 at the age of 79 with his family by his side.

Davies raced at many tracks starting out in Fredericton, N.B. Over the years he trained and raced at tracks in Quebec, Ontario, the Maritimes and Maine.

Davies raised many of his own horses and gave them all Welsh names. He wore red, black and white colours and his sons Ivan and Owen are continuing the family’s harness racing tradition.

He will be sadly missed by wife Donna, sons Ivan and Owen, daughters Rhia, Darlene and Gwen, and nine grandchildren.

My sincere sympathies to Donna and the family. It has been years since we raced in Sherbrooke but I remember those Saturday night chats fondly.
