Horseman Anthony MacDonald, who earlier this summer was affirmed as a candidate to become the PC nominee in the Guelph–Wellington riding, has told Trot Insider that he will be speaking at the Thursday, August 30 Queen's Park rally in support of Nepean-Carleton MPP Lisa MacLeod's private-members motion.
Last week, MacLeod invited members of the Ontario horse-racing industry to come to Queen's Park on Thursday, August 30 to show their support for her private-members motion, which calls on the Auditor General to review the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.'s controversial gaming modernization plan.
"On Thursday, August 30, 2012, I will use my one private members business this year to stand up for the horse-racing industry and rural jobs by calling on the Auditor General to review the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation's new gaming plans, including its revenue and expenditure projections, mental health and addictions impact and its effect on Ontario's horse racing industry," MacLeod stated in an open letter last week. "I will also reiterate the Ontario PC Caucus call for a referendum to take place in any affected municipality where the OLG is proposing a new casino in order for the community to determine whether it is welcome or not."
Support for MacLeod's motion has swelled since it was announced, and, in turn, horsepeople will be piling onto buses Thursday morning and will be heading down to Queen's Park to show their support.
While the rally is in the morning, MacLeod's private members bill won't be presented in parliament until between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Bayshore Broadcasting has also uploaded a brief note regarding the buses heading to Queen's Park, and the note contains a brief mp3 of MacLeod discussing her private-members motion. To listen to the mp3, click here.

All the best to everyone who
All the best to everyone who is going to be in attendance. Unfortunately I am in Montreal on business and can not make it. I know our industry will once again show up to demonstrate just how wrong "our government" is and just how many people they have discounted as not rural non liberal votes.
