Gold Cup Week racing continues Thursday (August 19) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park featuring the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies.

Thursday features a 7 p.m. evening program with 12 dashes on tap.

The first $15,520 Atlantic Sires Stakes A division for rookie fillies lines up in Race 6 with JJ Scarlett the morning line favourite off the rail for driver Danny Gillis and trainer Walter Walker. The Tobago Cays filly has won her last two starts including a lifetime best 1:57.2 trip over Truro Raceway in a division of the Nova Scotia Stakes. Boo Yaya has post two with Marc Campbell aboard for trainer Robert MacLeod with the filly never finishing worse than third in all five of her lifetime starts. West River Glo, to be driven by Clare MacDonald, is another top pick from post three in the five-horse field.

The Post Time Picks has Peter MacPhee placing Boo Yaya on top. “Boo Yaya has been first, second and third in her last three and wasn’t that far away at Inverness. Draws a prime-time position on the gate and will be up handy the pace so we think they hit the line first.”

The other $15,520 A division is in Race 10 and Rhojo Moe is the top pick from post two for driver Campbell and trainer Sandy Baird. Her top competitors include Cougar On A Terr (Gillis) and Therealprincess (Corey MacPherson).

The program has $3,000 B divisions in Races 2, 4 and 8.

Race 11 features the $3,900 Monctonian Pace with McPat (Gilles Barrieau) favoured from post two.

The Joe and Wal Hennessey Memorial lines up in Race 9 as Doc Darryl (Colin Sheppard) is the morning line choice with post three.
