The Meadowlands has announced a mandatory meeting for all drivers racing there on the weekend of July 16-17.
It will be held in the paddock drivers' lounge at 5:30 p.m. sharp on Friday, July 16.
"We want to discuss the unfavourable comments we have received from our customers regarding the lack of competitiveness in many of the races. I'd like to talk about how we might improve the product, especially considering we are going to show some of the races on national TV (America's Day At The Races on Fox Sports 2) on Pace night," said Meadowlands president Jeff Gural. "The idea is to do some things differently, evaluate the results during the break between the Hambletonian and when we reopen on Sept. 3, and decide if, in fact, these changes helped or hurt.
“Our goal is to have the best Standardbred racing product in the world, as it is our belief that we have the finest drivers in the world competing at The Meadowlands.”
Drivers currently racing at other venues who may plan to be in for stakes over the next month and would like to be connected remotely should contact Jason Settlemoir at [email protected].
