It has been reported that some remaining employees at Windsor Raceway received layoff notices over the weekend.
The news comes courtesy of an article by the CBC, which also contains quotes from Windsor Raceway President Pat Soulliere.
Soulliere reiterated to the CBC that Windsor Raceway's position "has not changed" in terms of the track still not accepting the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.'s proposed transitional agreement.
After the OLG opted to remove its slot machines from the border facility, the track announced that it is planning to end all operations August 31.

The rest of the 12 mutuel
The rest of the 12 mutuel employees plus two janitorial and one supervisor were given their layoff notices, there is nothing left here, nothing. Management are supervising with some instruction given by other supervisory staff, it is not pleasant , no security, no direction, a truly regrettable situation and such a sad ending for such a once wonderful place to come. We definitely should keep the
We definitely should keep the fight going, in my opinion Mcguinty is utterly devoid of any socially or intellectually redeeming value other than shooting himself in the foot. Without the NDP & the Conservatives were in trouble, in my opinion we need to organize and head to Queens Park. Start at Windsor / Quebec border and bring the 401 to a 100km crawl, have a couple dark nights of racing so there will be no excuses. Alot of horsemen can't see the bush for the trees & some just don't care enough to make a stand.
