Gordon Fleming Passes

Trot Insider has learned that well-known Newfoundland horseman Gordon Fleming has passed away at the Health Sciences Complex in St. Johns after

having suffered a serious stroke last Sunday afternoon (June 26).

Fleming, 46, was one of the top drivers in Newfoundland over the past couple of years. He had just guided P H Tornado to victory earlier in the day in which he suffered his stroke.

He leaves his wife Charmaine Fleming, and stepson Tyler Holwell, and will be sadly missed by all horsepeople.

Fleming is resting at Carnels Funeral Home in St. John's and a funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m.

Gord was a great person and an amazing horseman. His family's warmth and hospitality was greatly appreciated on a visit to Newfoundland last year.

His horsemanship was second to none and Harness Racing will greatly miss his contributions to the sport.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gord's family and friends. He will deeply missed.
