Wanna Bet Team Hits the Road!

The WannaBet program, a joint effort between Standardbred Canada and the Ontario Harness Horse

Association’s Standardbred Revenue Allocation Marketing Committee, has kicked off for the sixth consecutive season.

The WannaBet Customer Service Team officially hits the road this Sunday, July 5 at Clinton Raceway. The WannaBet team will be on hand to help out newcomers to the racetrack learn to read race programs and wager, as well as provide some entertainment in the form of games and contests to win prizes. Clinton Raceway will be featuring an incredible Birds of Prey Show as well as the $64,000 final of the Kin Pace for three year old pacing fillies.

In total, seven Ontario racetracks are participating in the WannaBet program. The purpose of the program is to introduce new fans to harness racing; but also to familiarize them with the sport, the racing program, and wagering by participation in a simplified, handicapping contest, other games/contests and an enhanced customer service experience.

In addition, a website that offers resources and information for the newcomer is another feature of the program and can be viewed by clicking here. A simplified version of the racing program is available on the site for every race card.

In providing friendly customer service to prospective racing fans, the WannaBet promotion will encourage a basic understanding of wagering on harness racing by demystifying the racing program and wagering options, factors that are traditionally major stumbling blocks in creating new fans.
