Ron Dean Passes

Published: July 27, 2019 03:39 pm EDT

Trot Insider has learned that longtime Standardbred industry participant Ron Dean of Toronto, Ont. passed away on Tuesday, July 9 in his 76th year.

Ron was diagnosed with an aggressive form of throat cancer earlier in the year and this was one fight Ron couldn't win. He loved fast times and, with a hoof print on his heart, slow horses. He spent many years driving, training and owning Standardbred racehorses and raced at tracks throughout the province.

Always willing to lend a helping hand, Ron was the go-to guy when anybody needed anything. He was a gifted salesman and was known by his many friends around the tracks as 'Tapper.'

There is a farewell for Ron on Sunday, July 28 (12:00 - 4:00 p.m.) at the BayMoore apartments (back courtyard) 1217 Bayview Avenue (northeast corner of Bayview and Moore) in Toronto, Ont. and friends of Ron are most welcome.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Ron Dean.
