Officials with Horse Racing New Brunswick have informed Trot Insider that the organization has been forced to cancel the card of live racing that was scheduled for this Saturday (July 16) at Exhibition Park Raceway.
The organization did not cite a specific reason in its Tuesday release, but HRNB did issue a release on Monday which stated that the Saturday EPR card was in jeopardy due to Lobster Carnival Week racing on PEI. The release also stated that the upcoming card of racing at Woodstock had been cancelled and that EPR has picked up a race date, which will take place on July 23.
Trot Insider has learned that the official reason for the July 16 cancellation was due to a shortage of horses.
It was also reported on Monday that Roberta Nixon is no longer the executive director at HRNB and that Kathy McLean has ‘taken the reins.’
