Hector Clouthier, former Member of Parliament and former executive director of the Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association, has written a book about the life of his father, Hector Clouthier Sr.
The book, titled ‘Mr. Lumberjack,’ talks about Hector Sr.'s life as a lumberman during the era when heavy work horses were used to haul logs out of the bush. When Hec Sr. passed away at the age of 87, The Globe and Mail ran a feature story on him with the headline ‘Lumber King of the Ottawa Valley.’
A passion for horses led Hec Sr. to get involved in harness horse racing.
