Allen "Ray" Raymond Caldwell Lowery of Millbrook, Ont. passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Frances “Fran” (nee Healy). Loving father of Jill Wickins (Dan), Kathy Shaughnessy (Andy), and Russell Lowery (Julie). Proud grandfather of Raychel, Meghan (Derek), Alexis (Brandon), and Loretta (Ryan). Great-grandfather of Weston, Flora, Athena, and Frances. Predeceased by parents Fred and Olive, and siblings George, Gerald, and Lena Marie.

Ray retired from Bell Canada in 1991 after 37 years of service. He will be remembered as one of the original shareholders of Kawartha Downs. Ray was a longtime owner, driver, trainer, and breeder; he lived and breathed harness racing for over 60 years. If he was not racing, he was in the stands cheering on his fellow horsemen. Ray’s last victory was winning the 2021 Family Day Trotting Series final with his homebred RJS Invictus at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Ray loved his farm, his animals, and most of all, his family.
