Memorial Day weekend is traditionally the unofficial kick-off to the summer season, and Harrah's Philadelphia brings in the warm weather in grand fashion, with the Betsy Ross and the Maxie Lee Memorial, both slated for Sunday, May 26.
Both races will carry a purse of $250,000, and will be carded as invitational events. The Betsy Ross, an annual event for the top pacing mares in the sport, was won last year by Kiwi standout Royal Cee Cee and in the past by standout mare Southwind Tempo; while the Maxie Lee plays a strong role in the legacy of distaff trotter Buck I St Pat, two-time winner of the event, as well as last year's winner, Chapter Seven.
Any owner or trainer who is interested in racing in the Betsy Ross (pacing mares) or the Maxie Lee Memorial (free-for-all trotters) is encouraged to contact the Harrah's Philadelphia race office at 484-490-2222.
Additionally, Sunday afternoons remain Family Day at the Races at Harrah's Philadelphia, with food and drink specials on the patio every Sunday live card, along with activities, games, and giveaways for everyone in the family.
