The state Horse Racing Commission’s Bureau of Standardbred Horse Racing has reminded Standardbred horse owners that 2018 sire stakes payments for two-year-old and three-year-old horses are due by May 15.
Second payments due for two-year-old horses are $400 for the Pari-mutuel Division and $75 for the Fair Division. This two-year-old payment must be made for the horse to be eligible to race as a two-year-old in the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes races.
Owners must make the final three-year-old Fair Division payment by May 15 for the horse to race at the fairs.
The fee structure for fairs is as follows. Yearling nomination fees are now $10 and due May 15, 2018. Two-year-old sustaining fees are $50 due March 15, 2018, and $75 due May 15, 2018. The three-year-old payment is $150 due May 15, 2018.
Lastly, if no sustaining fees were made when the horse was a two-year-old, a $750 late sustaining payment may be made March 15 of the horse’s three-year-old season. Regardless, the $150 sustaining fee due May 15 still remains.
