On Thursday, April 7, the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Association issued a notice to the industry stating that the CPMA has received a number of inquiries from industry participants asking about the changes to the withdrawal guidelines for the drugs Clenbuterol and Methylprednisolone.
The April 7 notice is further to the CPMA notice to industry dated March 31, 2016, respecting the delayed implementation of the 2016 Elimination Guidelines.
The April 7 notice confirms that – as mentioned in the CPMA’s March 31, 2016 notice – that official samples will be tested and certificates will be issued for results inconsistent with the Schedule of Drugs 2011 guidelines. This includes the guidelines for Clenbuterol and Methylprednisolone.

We have received a number of inquiries from industry participants asking about the changes to the withdrawal guidelines for the drugs Clenbuterol and Methylprednisolone.
This memo confirms that as mentioned in our March 31st, 2016 notice, official samples will be tested and certificates will be issued for results inconsistent with the Schedule of Drugs 2011 guidelines. This includes the guidelines for Clenbuterol and Methylprednisolone.
Given the number of changes made to in the 2016 Elimination Guidelines, we believe this to be the most equitable approach to adopt for the transition period.
However, the CPMA reiterates that this approach is being taken in order to assist the industry in transitioning to the new guidelines and urges all industry participants to adjust their practices so as to comply with the new 2016 Elimination Guidelines, which will come into effect on May 1st, 2016.

La présente fait suite à l’avis daté du 31 mars 2016 envoyé par l’ACPM à l’industrie concernant le report de la mise en œuvre du Guide d’élimination 2016.
Nous avons reçu un certain nombre de demandes de renseignements d’intervenants de l’industrie au sujet des modifications apportées aux lignes directrices sur l’élimination des drogues clenbutérol et méthylprednisolone.
Comme le mentionnait notre avis du 31 mars 2016, la présente confirme que les échantillons officiels seront testés et que des certificats seront délivrés pour les résultats qui ne concordent pas avec les lignes directrices de l’Annexe des drogues 2011, ce qui comprend les lignes directrices pour le clenbutérol et la méthylprednisolone.
Compte tenu du nombre de modifications apportées au Guide d’élimination 2016, nous croyons que l’approche susmentionnée est la plus équitable à adopter pour la période de transition.
Toutefois, l’ACPM réitère que cette approche est adoptée afin d’aider l’industrie à faire la transition aux nouvelles lignes directrices et exhorte les intervenants de l’industrie à modifier leurs pratiques de façon à se conformer au Guide d’élimination 2016, qui entrera en vigueur le 1er mai 2016.
