Weather Causes Problems In New Brunswick

Horse Racing New Brunswick has been forced to delay opening its live racing season as a result of violent weather in Saint John, New Brunswick.

“In addition to the regular hurdles a new business works through, two violent wind storms have whipped through the region causing substantial damage to the Tote Board,” said Jamie Hachey, President of HRNB. “The wind also knocked down communication wires and most recently uprooted a large simulcast satellite dish.”

“As a newly formed organization these are most certainly challenges we did not anticipate having to overcome,” Hachey added. “We’ve been in regular contact with our various governing agencies and have been informed we are unable to hold a live race card at this time due to logistics. Preparations for the necessary repairs are ongoing and it is anticipated we will have these most recent setbacks conquered shortly.”

“We certainly understand the frustration our horsemen are experiencing as a result of these delays and assure you we are feeling the same pressures and disappointments,” he continued. “We are trying to get up and running as fast as possible but have encountered immense challenges beyond our control.”

The directors and staff of HRNB thank the horsemen who have assisted and remained patient through the difficult challenges.
