Greg Gardiner Passes

Trot Insider has learned that owner/horseman Gregory 'Greg' Gardiner passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at home in Niagara Falls, Ont. on Tuesday, April 28

, 2009. Gardiner was 47 at the time of his passing.

Greg's father, the late Dr. Charles Graham Gardiner, also owned and raced standardbreds. Trainers Dr. John Hayes and Carman Hie were very positive influences in Gardiner's career in the business.

Visitation will be taking place Friday, May 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Homes / Morse & Son Chapel, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario, L2G 5Z7. For more information, click here or call 905-356-3550.

The funeral service will be taking place at the same location Saturday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m.

Gardiner, a full-time firefighter in Niagara Falls, was a proud co-owner of the popular San Pellegrino gelding Mapleleaf Buddy and was also training three-year-old Mach Three filly Dreamfair Wok Wok in Smithville, Ont.

Greg Gardiner was a truly nice guy who's friend ship i truly cherished and whos loss has completely devastated me .
I am a New Zealander and i worked with Greg ay John Hayes Stables which was one of the best times of our lives
