Former trainer, driver and blacksmith Joseph (Joe) Peter Hogan, 89, of Wolfe Island, passed away at his home on April 16, 2025, in Montreal, Que.
He was preceded in death by his seven older siblings: Harry, Helen, Betty, Jerry, Margaret, Dick and Sheila. Joe was the last of his line of Hogans.
Joe Hogan was a skilled horseman and an avid reader. He will be remembered for his wit and his unparalleled storytelling; his baking will also be dearly missed.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Geneviève; his children, Scott (Kim), Kelley (Laz), Karine and Colette (Roxanne); his granddaughter, Samantha; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on May 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Urgel Bourgie funeral home, located at 1255 Beaumont Avenue in Mount Royal, Que., followed by a Celebration of Life from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

When I first graduated from vet school and moved to Montreal Joe was one of the first people I met. He was a true gentleman, always in a great mood and loved telling stories and joking around. A very competent and hard-working blacksmith and horseman. Condolences to his family, Joe was a great guy.
