Joseph ‘Joe’ Riley Passes

Horseman Joseph A. ‘Joe’ Riley, 82 of Everett, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home in Everett.

Riley served in the United States Army and for many years was well known from travelling the Pennsylvania fairs and Grand Circuit with the Roger Hammer Stable. He also worked for the Burtnett family.

Away from the track, Riley was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and of all sports, especially high school sports. He enjoyed going to his favourite local hangouts, including the Landmark, Denny’s, and Burger King.

He is survived by a brother, Paul A. Riley, of Everett; two nieces, Glenda Rightnour (Charles) of Everett and Marlena Robinson (Will) of Buffalo Mills, PA; one great-nephew, Ricky (Melissa) Zelanko of Bedford; and a great-niece, Alicia (John) Mort of Centre Hall, PA.

A funeral service was held Saturday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Candice and Michael Adams officiating. He will be buried at Bedford Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
