Youbet.com, Inc. today announced that the company has signed three separate agreements that will enable its members to watch and wager on racing from South Africa, Sweden, additional tracks in the United Kingdom and Puerto Rico
, providing a near ‘round the clock’ racing experience.
In each case, wagers placed through youbet.com’s interactive wagering website Youbet Express will be co-mingled directly to the host racetrack in each country. The agreements significantly add to youbet.com’s current strong lineup of international racing from tracks in Australia, Dubai, Japan and South America.
In one agreement, youbet.com will be working with Phumelela Enterprises of South Africa to offer wagering and live streaming video from 16 racetracks in South Africa through Youbet Express. The agreement, which also includes distribution rights for 30 racetracks in the United Kingdom, also allows youbet.com to expand to year-round coverage of U.K. racing. Previously, U.K. racing had been offered from April through September on youbet.com. The agreement allows youbet.com to carry such renowned English events as the 2000 Guineas, the Grand National Steeplechase, the Epsom Derby and the prestigious Goodwood meeting. The annual climax of the South African racing season, the Durban July, will be available for wagering for youbet.com customers.
In a separate agreement with ATG Sweden, on April 4, youbet.com will begin importing harness racing from Swedish racetracks on a twice-per-week basis. In May, youbet.com members will be able to watch and wager on the Elitlopp, one of the world’s most prestigious harness races from Solvalla racetrack in Stockholm. The Swedish simulcasts will be offered every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year on youbet.com.
Finally, youbet.com reached an agreement with Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico, making Youbet.com the first ADW in the continental United States to offer racing content from Camarero. Approximately $200 million annually is wagered on racing at Camarero Race Track, and as part of its agreement with Camarero, youbet.com members will be able to watch and wager on the Puerto Rican Triple Crown and the Caribbean’s most important race, the $300,000 Clasico del Caribe for three-year-olds. The Clasico will be run this year on December 6 and televised on ESPN Deportes.
Youbet has developed these new content relationships to meet the company’s customer requests for more high quality wagering opportunities on a ‘round the clock’ basis. As a result, the company began to significantly extend its racing hours of operation – up to 20 hours a day – effective March 24.
“These new content agreements will make the youbet.com platform even more convenient for players who are not able to take advantage of wagering online during peak U.S. racing hours,” said youbet.com chief executive officer Michael Brodsky. “We remain focused on offering new products and services that will provide our customers with the best online wagering and service experience in the industry.”
