The Saturday (March 25) card at Flamboro Downs was cancelled shortly after it started while the card at Woodbine Mohawk Park was abandoned before the first race.
Per Flamboro Downs, the remainder of the card was cancelled due to extreme high winds in the Hamilton/Dundas, Ont. area. After discussions with horseperson’s representative Paul MacKenzie, a collective decision was made to cancel after Race 1 for the safety of all participants.
High winds also around Campbellville, Ont. prompted officials at Woodbine Mohawk Park to forego the 13-race card, which included the $72,000 New Holland Trotting Series Final in Race 5 and the $70,500 New Holland Pacing Series final in Race 7.
The New Holland Pacing and Trotting Series finals originally scheduled for Saturday will now be held next Saturday (April 1).
Woodbine Mohawk Park is now on its annual end-of-March break. Live racing will resume next Saturday (April 1) with a special post time of 6 p.m. (EDT).
