Fundraiser For Staples

Published: February 6, 2012 11:27 am EST

Marshall 'Tiger' Staples, a Manitoba horseman, is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia

.

Staples has been receiving treatment for the last four months at Cancer Care Manitoba. Formerly a familiar face in Ontario's harness racing industry, Staples, 37, worked for trainers Joe Stutzman and Harold Stead in the past, and cared for such horses as Music Director and Ball And Chain, the first sub-1:50 pacer in Canadian harness racing history.

Born into the business, Staples' parents Ron and Bonnie owned and operated Quad M Stable for some 20 years. Staples himself now has two daughters, Bri, 14 and Kenna, 12.

Local friends in racing are organizing a fund raiser for the fallen horseman. A benefit social and auction is being held on February 25 in Oakville, Man. by family friends Barry and Heather Fowler. For more information on the fund raiser, contact Barry or Heather at 204-267-2357 or Jody Earle at 204-723-3809.

Marshall worked with me for quite a few years for Harold Stead, you couldn't ask for a harder working more genuine person than him. I was deeply saddened to hear of this yesterday and want to wish you all the best in your fight, Marsh. You always were a true warrior and as tough as nails draw on that strength my friend. I will be praying for you bud

Thinking of you Tiger,....stay strong!

Thanks to the following for donations - Best Bandages, A&W Kirkfield Park in Winnipeg, Greg Manning and Jody Earle Stable, Manitoba Harness Horsemen.

I can help Mr. Staples with the cancer end of it. A cancer doctor by the name of Dr. Holly Campbell who is in Calgary somewhere helped me out when I had symptoms of PROSTRATE CANCER.

She got me on the right meds and we kicked the hell out of this cancer that had dared to get into my body.
She will be working at some hospital in Calgary. So, Mr. Staples, get in touch with her and mention my name (below). I was able to get my PSA count down from 18 to 0.059.
Anything less that 4.00 is considered to be 0.00.

I hope you have luck with this info and perhaps if you send her some info on your cancer status, she will take you on as a patient via Canada Post.

Best of luck, Mr. Staples.
