Verna Melloy Lynn Passes

Verna L. Melloy Lynn, 77, of Albion, Ill., passed away on Monday, February 3 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

She was a pioneer for being one of the few female standardbred drivers. She trained horses, drove a school bus and was a homemaker.

She was born May 1, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Ernest William Broscius and Bernice Viola Bolton Broscius. She was united in marriage to James Lynn of Albion.

She is survived by a son, Patrick; daughters, Tricia (Jason) McKinney and and Missy (Frank) Fisher; husband, Frank; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Pat Melloy; and a son, Donald Withnell.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 7) at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion with Brother Randy Bukas officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery of Albion. Visitation will be conducted Friday from 1-2 p.m. at Nale’s Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Edwards County Senior Citizens and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home.
