The Harness Horse Youth Foundation has named Jody Morone as its Summer Programs Supervisor. The HHYF has also announced the unanimous election of Julie Miller to its board of Trustees.
Miller, an Iowa native, joins Corey Callahan on the board as a backstretch voice. She has nearly 1,300 training wins and has posted a UTR of over .315 for each of the past 10 years. “I saw HHYF when I was in Illinois,” she says. “I saw how they reached the kids. When we made the move out east and we saw HHYF was at Gaitway Farms, I wanted to get involved. I am especially excited to be joining HHYF as we begin preparing for the 40th anniversary.”
Morone has been around Standardbreds her entire life and has worked in a number of capacities in the business. Morone is looking forward to the challenge. “I was in 4-H and became a 4-H leader at age 19. It helped me realize that hands-on is the best way to learn. When you give kids the opportunity perhaps you awaken something, then anything is possible.”
HHYF Executive Director Ellen Taylor is excited about both additions. “I believe HHYF is ready for the dynamic energy of both Jody as summer programs supervisor, and Julie as trustee. Each of them understands the importance of our work and believes wholeheartedly in our mission. We are definitely looking forward to incorporating their ideas as we move HHYF forward in the upcoming busy summer season and in a couple of new areas, too!” she said.
