ASHA General Meeting Scheduled

The 2012 Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA) General Meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, March 4 at Edmonton Northlands' Paddock Theatre

.

The proposed agenda for the Annual Meeting, which will begin at 1 p.m., is as follows:

1. Approval of the minutes from the 2011 Annual General Meeting
2. Financial Report and Approval of Financial Statements/ASHA Committee Reports
3. New Business/Question Period
4. Election of Officers:
a. President - (two-year term)
b. Owners Chair - (two-year term)
c. Driver /Trainers Chair - (two-year term)
d. Director - (two-year term)
e. Director – (two-year term)
f. Director - (one-year term)
g. Three members of the Breeders Committee (three three-year terms)
5. Installation of New Officers

In order to be eligible to vote at any meeting of the Association, or in order to be
appointed or run for any position on the Board of Directors, a person must have either held full membership in the Association or held membership as a groom currently licensed by Horse Racing Alberta, for a period of 30 days prior to the date of such meeting, appointment or election. Payment for membership must have been received in full at the ASHA office on or before the end of business hours (4:30 p.m. MST) on February 4, 2012.

To be eligible to vote, you must be a Full Member of the Association or have a valid Groom membership in the Association. Article 3. b) (i). of the ASHA By Laws currently states, “an applicant is eligible for full membership if that applicant or that applicant’s spouse is a registered owner or lessee of a registered Standardbred horse or a breeder, trainer or driver currently licensed by Horse Racing Alberta."

Remaining on the ASHA Board for 2012-2013 are Dan Sifert, Norm Kennedy, Barry Hill, Joe Ratchford, Ryan Grundy, Kelly Ducharme. Breeders Committee members with the year their term expires includes Mona Hill (2013) Nick Sass (2013) Connie Kolthammer(2013), Clauzette Byckal, (2014) Harold Haining (2014), and Neil Malloch (2014).
