Returning one week ago after a five-month layoff, pacer Franco Santana N delivered a solid qualifying effort during the seven-dash session at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, March 13.

Driver James MacDonald pointed the six-year-old son of Captaintreacherous - San Rafaella to the front in his morning test against six seasoned rivals and the pacer powered through the cool Campbellville air with relative ease.  After fractions of :28.2, 58.3 and 1:26.1 sporting a comfortable margin over his closest competitor, Franco Santana N bid adios to his foes with a :26.3 final fraction to trip the timer in 1:52.4 with a winning margin of nearly 10 lengths.

Trained by Chantal Mitchell for owner Kevin Harvey of Halifax, N.S., Franco Santana N is a six-time winner in his career — with four of those wins coming in a four-race win streak last summer, highlighted by a pair of 1:49.4 performances.

A pair of notable names followed Franco Santana N across the wire. Hands Off Harry, most recently seen winning the 2025 Western Canada Pacing Derby last October at Century Mile, finished second in his Ontario debut for trainer-driver Paul Davies. O'Brien Award finalist Calicojack Hanover, the 2025 Charles Juravinski Memorial Cup champ, finished third with Tyler Jones up for trainer Luc Blais.
