Bill Robblee Passes

Longtime horseman and owner William 'Bill' H. Robblee of Woodstock passed away at the Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the age of 78

.

Beloved husband of the late H. Eleanor Robblee (nee Hall). Dear father of Meredith (Jim) Currah of Tavistock, Cathy Robblee, Marylou Minogue, and father-in-law of Sue Robblee all of Woodstock. Loving grandfather of Miranda (Todd), Ramsey, Nicole, Josh, Travis, Shania, and Rachel.

Bill will be remembered by his siblings Roger (Alma) Robblee, Mallie Henderson, Margaret (Percy) Desroches, Keith (Marg) Robblee, Elva (Dick) Jamieson, Frances (Jerry) Jamieson, Lloyd (Wendy) Robblee, Carson (Marilyn) Robblee and Barb (Bill) Parkinson. Loved brother-in-law of John Wolosinovsky, Jean Farncombe and Edith (David) Mulinder. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Predeceased by his son Rodney Robblee (2005) and his sister Isabel Wolosinovsky.

Bill was active in harness racing for over 40 years and was a member of the OHHA, CTA, the Woodstock Trotting Association as well as a longtime employee at Standard Tube. One of Robblee's well-known campaigners from the late 1970s was 47-race winner Lawrenceburg Lady. That broodmare turned out many familiar horses with the Harbourview moniker, among them the 50-time and $220,000 winner Harbourview Darcy.

Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, (519-539-0004) on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9pm where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 11am with Rev. Bonnie Pilkey officiating. Cremation to follow with burial in the Anglican Cemetery at a later date.
