I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club members based in Nova Scotia came out on top in two recent handicapping contests.
Kathy Viva of Sydney Mines, N.S. won the Breeders Crown Online Handicapping Contest.
Kathy was one of several to select the first three winners on the Friday night’s Crown races so we went to the tie breakers where a handful of people selected both Ron Burke and Yannick Gingras as the highest earning trainer and driver. So then it was on to a random draw, and Kathy’s name came up!
Kathy’s husband, Jim, is very involved with horses and attends racing at Northside Downs plus they make an annual trip to Deleware, Ohio for the Little Brown Jug. Kathy’s favourite driver is Ron Pierce, her favourite horse is Foiled Again and she was able to watch the Breeders Crown on TV.
Fred Burns of Glace Bay, N.S. won the Breeders Classic Online Handicapping Contest. He and three other Fan Club members had two consecutive winners and then Fred’s name was pulled in the random draw.
Our 'What Were You Doing In 1974?' contest winner will be announced in the very near future as Trot magazine will be reaching Standardbred Canada members and subscribers in the next week.
We received many great submissions in the 'What’s In A Name?' contest and the winner will be published in the January issue of Trot magazine and announced on the web when that issue hits the streets.
Don’t forget to submit a photo of yourself (or someone in your family) wearing an ugly Christmas sweater for the Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest and email it to [email protected] by December 12 for your chance to win a $50 gift card at the racetrack of your choice, and a $50 Fan Club swag prize package.
We’ll also donate $50 in the winner’s name to the Children’s Wish Foundation who organize many Ugly Christmas Sweater events across the country.
