Officials with the Meadowlands Racetrack have announced that the track will host more than 130 military veterans for a special night at the races on Saturday, December 6.
The event is being organized in conjunction with Horse Ability, a Long Island-based organization that offers a wide range of horse-related programs to children and adults with special needs, including special opportunities specifically for veterans.
The Saturday night event will begin with a private screening of the powerful documentary by Academy Award nominee Robin Fryday and Peter Rosenbaum, ‘Riding My Way Back.’
The veterans will then be treated to a buffet dinner sponsored by the Meadowlands Racetrack and its chairman, Jeff Gural. Retired United States Marine Corps Seargeant Walker Potts will appear on the Meadowlands pre-race show at 6:45 p.m. He will also be one of two veterans to help lead a post parade with horseman Robbie Siegelman, a Meadowlands trainer and major supporter of Horse Ability.
Several veterans-related groups will also be involved in winner’s circle presentations during the night.
