Alma Jean Caddey, known as Jean to her friends and family, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, in Ingersoll, Ont., at 91 years of age.
Alongside her late husband, Jim, who predeceased her in 2018, Jean found joy and success as a Standardbred racehorse breeder and owner. Their partnership extended beyond their marriage into a shared enthusiasm for the harness racing world, leaving a legacy within the Standardbred community.
She is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Brent) Belore, and her adored grandchildren, Alana and Dylan Belore. Her guidance and love will continue to be a guiding light in their lives, as they carry forward the values and lessons she instilled in them.
Jean was a beloved sister to Grace Schnurr and Leslie Craig. Though she was predeceased by her brother Rand (Carol) Craig, brother-in-law Allan Schnurr and sister-in-law Mary Jean Craig, the bonds of family extended through her many nieces, nephews and extended family members who survive her.
Jean's early years as a school teacher were a testament to her intelligence and analytical mind. She imparted wisdom and knowledge to her students within the walls of her classrooms.
Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at the North Embro Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Embro Pond Association would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral (845 Devonshire Ave., 519-539-0004) or visit www.brockandvisser.com.
