For the second day in a row, Monticello Raceway has cancelled its scheduled live card of harness racing.

The Tuesday, Dec. 31 card has been cancelled due to unsafe track conditions.

With the 2024 season complete, Laura Aldrich secured her second consecutive training title at Monticello Raceway and Michael Merton took top driving honours for the third time at his hometown track.

Aldrich had 104 winners hailing from her barn to top the trainer standings while Monica Eriksen was second with 100 winners. Rounding out the top five trainers, Gary Messenger took the show spot with 73 wins, Dany Gill had 68 wins and Art Green had 53 wins. Former leading trainer Robert Lounsbury finished the year with 48 wins. Lounsbury trains the 2024 Horse of the Year, Promise For Life.

Merton handily took the 2024 driving title with a 14-win cushion and a total of 241 victories. His brother Greg finished second with 227 winning drives. Former leading drivers James Taggart Jr. (196 wins) and Bruce Aldrich Jr. (196 wins) were among the top reinsmen in third and fourth, respectively, while Kyle Dibenedetto (133 wins) completed the top five.

The next program is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 2 at 12:10 p.m.
