Pinner will try to notch his fifth win in a row during the top class race this Saturday afternoon at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.
First-race post time for the 13-dash card is 1:00 p.m.
Pinner has drawn Post 4 in the card’s $2,200 feature (Race 12). Marc Campbell will be in the race bike for co-owner/trainer Brian Ladner and co-owners Kevin and Lillian Ladner of Charlottetown. Pinner will face off with McJestic, who has Post 3 for driver Corey MacPherson. Another threat in the eight-horse field is New Brunswick ship-in Malek Hanover (to be driven by Mike Stevenson), who earned over $20,000 this season racing the tough Maine circuit. The nine-year-old son of Western Hanover is trained by New Brunswick’s Bo Sowers, who has five horses entered on the afternoon card. Other entries in the afternoon’s feature race are Blu Meadow Willie (Robert MacInnis), Nobestbfor (Walter Cheverie), Doll R General (Mark McKinnon), Stayoutofmyaffair (Jason Hughes), and Artist List (Mark Bradley).
A compact group of five will contest the $1,500 Open Trot (Race 6). Zip The Lip has a four-race winning streak on the line and will start from Post 5 for driver Brian MacPhee, co-owner/trainer Donald Sweet and owner Orville Willis, both of O’Leary. Abundaspin (Harold Shepherd) has Post 4 and will try to find a way to defeat Zip The Lip after having been unable to since November 2. Also in the race are Wonderous Hanover (Michael McGuigan), Buckling Banbury (Corey MacPherson) and Caliban Hanover (Ron Gass).
Race 9 is the back-up pace for a purse of $1,550. The race has Oakrock Almighty favoured off the rail for driver Ron Matheson, trainer Jackie Matheson, and owners Jack Keenan of Stratford and Joseph Dahl of Ontario. Other top competitors include Capitalism (Jason Hughes) from Post 9 and Sterling Seelster (Marc Campbell) with Post 3.
