Ethel Fritz Passes

Longtime harness racing industry participant Ethel Melinda Fritz (nee Borth) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham, on Sunday, November 6, 2016. She was 79.

Ethel lived her life for her family, her horses and her farm. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Beloved wife of Hall of Fame horseman William "Bud' Fritz for 61 years. Loving mother of Marilyn (Allan) Zettler, Laurie (Roy) Trelford, Margie (Mike) Sawyer, Terry (Alis Wilson), Brad (Anita), Cheryl (Brad) Colvin, Susie (Gregg) McNair, Randy (Leslie) and Dale (Lisa).

Proud grandmother of Lisa, Laura, Matthew, Kelly, Jennifer, Sarah, Ashley, Brandon, Taylor, Ashton, Lexie, Ryan, Candace, Kayla, Jenna, Mackenzie, William, Randall, Monica and Courtney, and great grandmother of Isabella, Austin, Cadyn, Mikayla, Owen, Madison and Zayden. Dear sister of Emma (the late Jacob "Sonny") Geisel, Ada (Bill) Hope, Lorraine (the late Mervin) Monk, Reuben (Lorraine) Borth, Rita (George) Goetz, Gordon (Fran) Borth, Marlene (the late Jack) Fischer and William Borth.

Ethel will also be missed by her sister-in-law Betty Borth as well as many nieces, nephews and the extended Fritz family.

Ethel was predeceased by her parents William and Eleanora Borth (nee Hohnstein), her siblings Eileen (Jack) Fell, Norman Borth and Wilfred Borth.

The family wishes to express their most sincere thank you to the Doctors and nurses from SBGHC Walkerton and Durham as well as the nurses and staff at Rockwood Terrace, Durham for their care and compassion over the past few months. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Ethel's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Cameron Funeral Home, Walkerton from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Ethel's life will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walkerton. Rev. Terri-Ann Mattiasson officiating. Reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Walkerton. Private family interment in Hanover Cemetery.
