At its meeting on October 25, 2011, the board of the Ontario Racing Commission considered a proposed rule change affecting the Rules of Racing in Ontario. Prior to approving directives for change, the ORC is seeking public input on the proposal.

To be considered, comments or submissions on the proposed changes must be received by December 2, 2011, by mail, fax or email at [email protected].

The proposed rule change would require the licensing of any horseperson's organization, where that organization has entered into contract with a racetrack. This new requirement is a result of new Canadian Pari-Mutuel Association rules coming into effect January 1, requiring racetrack operators to have contracts with organizations approved by the provincial commission.
