The NAARV (North American Association of Racetrack Veterinarians) is proposing a modification to the penalty guidelines for drug positives resulting from environmental contamination and unlikely to have a relevant effect on the animal, specifically findings associated with dexamethasone and betamethasone.

This proposal is being circulated to the members of the RCI Scientific Advisory Group, Equine Welfare and Veterinarians Committee and Drug Testing Standards and Practices Committees. These committees may or may not meet prior to the December Model Rules Committee.
