Three authors, Victoria M. Howard, Billy Haughton and Freddie Hudson, will be signing their book ‘Roosevelt Raceway Where It All Began’ at the Book Revue in Huntington, NY on November 21 from 7–9 p.m.
The book details the story of Long Island's Roosevelt Raceway, located in the town of Westbury, from its beginning in 1940 to its end and final closing in 1988.
The story begins with the rise and fall of the storied Roosevelt Raceway, the world capital of harness racing. It tells of one man, George Morton Levy, who had a vision that he turned into a reality.
Levy turned a weekend gentleman sport into a major league sport that at the time was considered to be the fastest growing sport in the United States.
The book is also filled with stories of the top talented harness drivers, horses, races and the statistics that made Roosevelt Raceway the number one and most popular harness track in the world.
The Book Revue is located in Huntington at 313 New York Avenue, 631-271-1442.
