It will be a bit of a homecoming when harness racing’s latest superstar, Wiggle It Jiggleit, returns to his native state of Indiana at Hoosier Park on Saturday evening.
Wiggle It Jiggleit, the top-ranked horse in harness racing, will headline the list of entrants set to go postward during the 14-race card on Saturday that features the $200,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Super Finals.
With purses in excess of $1.6 million, the Indiana Sires Stakes Super Finals night will be one of the richest nights offered in the history of the Indiana Sires Stakes program featuring eight $200,000 finals. The star-studded 14-race card will showcase the best trotters and pacers in the state of Indiana and provide an exciting conclusion to the 2015 sires stakes season.
Wiggle It Jiggleit will be making his first start since capturing the 2015 edition of the Little Brown Jug in most impressive fashion. The 70th edition of the Little Brown Jug – the sport’s premier half-mile-track event for three-year-old male pacers, saw Wiggle It Jiggleit victorious in his elimination and then go on to deliver a 1:49.3 mile in the $324,960 second and final heat.
“If I had to put that race into words, well, it made a grown man cry,” trainer Clyde Francis noted of his Little Brown Jug Victory. “I really thought he was beat but to come back and do what he did, that was all heart and guts.”
Wiggle It Jiggleit has won 18 of 20 races this year and has amassed $1.79 million in seasonal earnings. The world-record holding son of Mr. Wiggles is owned and bred by George Teague Jr. His resume includes wins in the Meadowlands Pace, Hempt Memorial, Battle of the Brandywine, and Milstein Memorial. Wiggle It Jiggleit was also victorious in Indiana Sires Stakes action at Hoosier Park earlier in the season.
“No matter what size track you put him on, he just does it,” Francis continued. “He’s versatile and no matter the circumstances he always goes out there and gives 110%. I’ve never seen a horse with as much heart and guts as him.”
With regular driver Montrell Teague in the sulky, Wiggle It Jiggle will look to continue his winning ways in the thirteenth race on the program from post three. Installed as the 2-5 morning line choice, Wiggle It Jiggleit will face a field of nine other three-year-old pacing colts and geldings including Indiana Sires Stakes champion, Freaky Feet Pete.
Starting from the trailing post position ten, Freaky Feet Pete has been tabbed the morning line second choice at odds of 5-2 for driver Trace Tetrick. Trained by Larry Rheinheimer, Freaky Feet Pete has been no worse than second in 12 starts this season and won 19 of 22 lifetime outings.
The first race will line-up behind the starting gate at 5:45 p.m. Along with the live racing action, the evening will be complimented by giveaways, dining specials and live entertainment at the conclusion of the live racing card.
