The Harness Horse Youth Foundation, in cooperation with Diamond Creek Farm, presented a demonstration titled ‘Lines, Not Reins’ at the recent International Certified Horsemanship Association’s Conference held at Houghton College, Houghton, NY.

“We took the opportunity to expose a new audience of professional horsepersons and clinicians and explain driving from the racing side,” Ellen Taylor, HHYF executive director, said. “With the assistance of Homer and Missy (HHYF Trottingbreds) and Emily Gross from Diamond Creek and Jennifer Connor, HHYF trustee, we discussed harness parts, hitching and then provided participants the chance to drive, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who got on the jog cart!”

CHA’s mission is accomplished by promoting excellence in safety and education for the benefit of the entire horse industry. This is accomplished by certifying instructors, accrediting equine facilities, producing educational conferences and publishing educational resources such as horsemanship manuals, DVDs, safety video shorts, webinars, a monthly radio show, and a weekly blog.

Attendees at the conference numbered 150 from 27 states and two provinces.
