Summerside Season Finale Sunday

The final card of the 2019 season at Red Shores Summerside will have Nogreatmischief looking to end his Prince County campaign on a winning note Sunday afternoon.

The western oval will play host to 12 dashes, with first race post time at 1:00 P.M.

Nogreatmischief is the morning line favourite in the feature race of the card, a $2,600 event in Race 11. Walter Cheverie trains, drives and co-owns the 28-time winning son of Bettors Delight with co-owner Brian Thompson of Charlottetown. After an open-length romp on Oct. 14, Nogreatmischief was sent to the lead in his latest and nailed at the finish to settle for second as the race favourite. He will have another tough field of company as Varadero Hanover (Ken Murphy) leaves from post five for the Jeff Wallace stable of Alberton, and Mando Fun will look to be forwardly placed from post two with Gilles Barrieau in the bike for Paul Biggar of Tyne Valley.

Other contenders in the field include Pictonian Storm (Myles Heffernan Sr.), Twice As Bright (David Dowling), and Best To Hurst (Jason Hughes).

The hottest horse racing at Red Shores Summerside gets top call as the morning line favourite in $2,200 Wendell Wallace Memorial Pace in Race 9. Souverain has won five of his last six starts with his only loss coming when he made a break in stride at the start. Barrieau is back in the driver’s seat from post two for owner-trainer Phil Sizer of Kensington. Dusty Lane Cortez was on top of his game is his latest with a 1:57.1 victory by open lengths at Red Shores Charlottetown after the three-year-old son of Westwardho Hanover made a break in the Atlantic Breeders Crown final. Brandons Glory ships in from New Brunswick to leave from post five with Dale Spence picking up the catch driving assignment for trainer Tommy Gunn as the pacer looks to expand on his $19,486 in seasonal earnings. Completing the field are Painted Desert (Corey MacPherson), Instant Shadow (Kyle Mason), Creepin (Dowling), Coasttocoastshark (Murphy) and Phil Dorleans (Hughes).
