Today officially kicks off the start of the 2019 London Selected Yearling Sale (LSYS) Weekend at the Agriplex at Western Fair. The LSYS is a collaboration between Forest City Standardbred Sales Inc. and Standardbred Canada (SC).
Today (Friday) is ‘preview’ day when trainers and owners visit the sales pavilion to inspect the yearlings that are on their shortlists. Yearlings are available for inspection starting at 10:00 a.m.
The yearling auction begins on Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 noon. To view the sale roster, click here.
Early outs for the sale include: Hip #4, #67, #103, #124, #170, #212, #239, #257 and #283.
A total of 99 yearlings (from Hip # 1- 124) will be presented on Saturday, October 19, and the balance of the 293 yearlings catalogued will be presented on Sunday, October 20, starting with Hip #125.
SC’s ID Technician, Mike Pennington, will also be on hand to microchip yearlings and will be set up in the Sales Pavilion area.
The LSYS features an Equine Expo, presented by Standardbred Canada and sponsored by Ontario Lottery and Gaming and Ontario Racing. The expo features 14 different associations and businesses and is open for business starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
In conjunction with this weekend’s LSYS, SC is hosting a FREE Horse Ownership 101 Workshop, sponsored by Ontario Lottery and Gaming and Ontario Racing this evening at the Agriplex and The Raceway at Western Fair. The workshop will focus on Fractional Ownership and feature presentations by reps from LandMark Racing Stable, Ownastandardbred.com, and Thestable.ca.
On Saturday and Sunday morning, SC will present Free workshops on Understanding Pedigrees and Conformation.
Friday, October 18:
Horse Ownership 101 - 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
If you are considering purchasing a yearling or racehorse and would like to learn more about understanding pedigrees, conformation, and the owner-trainer experience for Fractional Ownership groups, this workshop is for you!
Saturday, October 19 & Sunday, October 20:
Understanding Pedigrees & Conformation - 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
These sessions will teach you how to decipher all of the valuable information on a yearling’s pedigree page and offer information and a demonstration on what you should look for when evaluating a horse’s physical attributes.
There is no cost to attend any of the workshops but registration is required. A limited number of seats remain available for all three workshops.
