Jim Foreman Passes

Published: October 15, 2018 12:03 pm EDT

After a difficult battle with cancer, Standardbred horseman Jim (James Brian) Foreman passed away on Wednesday, October 10 at the age of 66.

Beloved husband of Ilse Margaret (Marg) for 45 years. Loving father of James and Daryl. Proud ‘Mookie’ to Jaden, Justin and Jersey. Survived by his siblings Joyce, Frank (Liz) and Alma (Ivan) and predeceased by his parents James and Kathleen. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will take place at Kirkwall Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October 21 at 2 p.m. Donations to Kirkwall Church would be appreciated by the family.

Jim was passionate about harness racing and was a fixture at Flamboro Downs for much of his training career. He and Marg bought their first racehorse, Fiddlestring, 5, 2:01.1h ($60,214) in 1988 and she became the foundation broodmare for the Foreman stable, producing local stars such as, Judge Mookie, 7, 1:54.2h ($224,757), Tante Helga, 7, 1:57h ($147, 948), and Ilse Mar, 4, 1:59.3h ($71,837). Shy Shelby, 6, 1:55.3h ($110,586) was also a stable favourite. Jim adored his horses and ensured that they live out their retirement on the family farm where Mookie, Helga and Ilse Mar can be found today.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Jim Foreman.
