Fresh off a championship win last weekend, After The Lovin will search for a consolation crown on Saturday (Oct. 12) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 13-dash Saturday afternoon card kicks off at 12:30 P.M. Newly-minted Island Breeders Final winner After The Lovin has post three in the $5,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown three-year-old pacing filly consolation, slated as the third race of the day. Jason Hughes is back at the controls for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms and River Valley Management. Other top entries include Back In The Game (Gilles Barrieau) and Pickpocketprincess (Adam Merner).
Race analyst Les MacIsaac will side with After The Lovin for the top spot.
“After The Lovin earned a new speed badge two back then followed it up with another one in her latest,” MacIsaac said. “With her current form as good as it is a threepeat is certainly possible.”
Howmac Napoleon is the favourite in the $5,000 two-year-old pacing colt consolation with Merner in the seat for trainer Chris Davies and owner JTL Risk Stable of Port Morien, N.S. The Articulator rookie has won his last two starts heading into Saturday's contest, the seventh race on the card.
Streakazana is the morning line favourite in the $5,000 two-year-old pacing filly consolation in Race 9. Marc Campbell trains and drives the post four starter for owner MCR Streakazana Group of Charlottetown.
The final consolation of the day is for three-year-old pacing colts in the twelfth race. Rail starter Dont Be A Hero is the top choice in the $5,000 class for driver Hughes, trainer Watts and owners Windemere Farms, Harris Johnston and John Howatt.
Honourable Darlene Compton, P.E.I's minister responsible for harness racing, will join Lee Drake on the Inside Track at 12:05 p.m. The interview segment will air on the Race Day broadcast network at redshores.ca.
