It has been reported that 37 people have already signed up to speak at this evening's public Toronto and East York Community Council meeting, which will take place at the Toronto City Hall Council Chamber.

The meeting, which is to gauge public sentiment regarding the controversial idea of introducing full-blown casinos in the heart of urban Toronto, will get underway at 6:00 p.m.

A report by the Toronto Sun explains that the community council has already voted twice against the casino expansion issue.

“This is the opportunity for any member of the public who has thoughts about a casino to come and give us advice before we vote on that report,” Councillor Gord Perks, the chairman of the community council, was quoted as saying in the article.

“Absolutely we want to hear from people ... all three people who want a casino are welcome to come down and make a deputation to us. We want to hear the pros and cons and also we want to get advice from people about how they would like us to proceed as a city.”
