On Sunday, January 31, Standardbred Canada will announce the 2020 winners of the prestigious O’Brien Awards on a live virtual event, starting at 7:00 p.m. (EST), on standardbredcanada.ca.
In addition to streaming the awards on standardbredcanada.ca, the O’Brien Awards Virtual Gala will also be broadcasted live on HPItv Canada at 7:00 p.m. (EST) and available to subscribers.

This provides our members and racing fans across the country another way to watch the awards and gives us the opportunity to generate additional exposure for this event,” said Dan Gall, President & CEO of Standardbred Canada.
Woodbine Entertainment’s broadcast department is producing the Awards Gala broadcast in conjunction with CUJO Entertainment. The online stream is co-sponsored by Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals - Effective Supplements Through Science and Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Eighteen O'Brien Awards will be given out for the 2020 racing season. Thirteen of these awards honour the premier horses over the past racing season including the most coveted trophy, Canada's Somebeachsomewhere Horse of the Year. In addition there are five awards for people, one each for Driver of the Year, Trainer of the Year, Future Star Award, Armstrong Bros. Farm Breeder of the Year and the O'Brien Award of Horsemanship.
A digital program for the 2020 O’Brien Awards will be available for download on standardbredcanada.ca on Sunday afternoon.
