After months upon months of sneak peeks, trailers and preview articles, HBO's much anticipated horse-racing series 'Luck' is set to kick-off its first season Sunday (January 29). Fans of horse racing are undoubtedly eager about the show, but as a series preview conveys, so are the actors and creators
.
"It's really not about horse racing, but about humans," said three-time Academy Award nominee Nick Nolte, who plays veteran conditioner Walter Smith.
"Luck is an amazing examination of all the characters that inhabit a racetrack," said John Ortiz, who plays trainer Turo Esclante.
"This is [an] immersion into a total world of luck that can have the power to change our lives," said executive producer/director Michael Mann.
"The challenge here is the fluidity of filmmaking style, because there are so many characters and story tracks. In horse racing, it's not to observe the racing, but to place the audience within the experience."
Luck will debut Sunday at 9:00 p.m. (ET).
